How the NYTX app works

Simply put, the NYTX Officer App is a smarter way for police officers to find and sign up for off-duty assignments. Our platform — accessible via iOS and Android — connects licensed, active-duty law enforcement officers with off-duty assignments in their local area. Whether you’re looking to pick up extra hours providing event security, protecting critical infrastructure, or serving as a private security detail, our secure and easy-to-use app puts opportunities at your fingertips.

Step 1: Create a secure officer Profile

Upon sign-up, officers are guided through a streamlined setup process to establish their professional profile. In a highly secure environment, you’ll be asked to provide key credentials such as your name, rank, badge number, affiliated law enforcement agency, and a short bio. You can also specify your availability (days/times), hourly rate, and the types of assignments you’re open to — such as retail security, special events, public or private site protection, or VIP detail.

Step 2: Add Payroll and Payment Info (Opt-In, Secure Portal)

For those ready to accept paid assignments, a second, optional tier of profile information is available through a secure payroll portal. Here, officers can provide confidential details like Social Security number (for tax reporting), banking information for direct deposit, and other compliance-related data. All financial information is encrypted and managed through industry-standard secure protocols.

Step 3: Browse and Respond to Assignments in Your Area

Once your profile is complete, the app opens up a live feed of off-duty opportunities in your vicinity. Each assignment includes details submitted by the customer—such as the nature of the job, location, duration, required attire, point of contact, and any specific expectations. Officers can review listings and indicate interest by checking a box or tapping a “Respond” button.

Step 4: Review and Selection by the Customer

When an officer responds to a posting, the requesting customer is immediately notified. They can review the officer’s profile—including qualifications, bio, pay rate, and experience—to make an informed decision. The customer then accepts or declines the officer for the role. They also have the option to message the officer, request a brief phone call or in-person meeting, or leave feedback if passing on the offer.

Step 5: Confirmation and Agreement

If the officer is selected, they receive an in-app notification and email prompting them to confirm the assignment. Once accepted, the engagement is locked in. Both parties receive confirmation, and all relevant information—location, date/time, point of contact—is made readily available in the app dashboard.

Step 6: Assignment Completion and Follow-Up

After the assignment is fulfilled, the customer may rate the officer’s performance and leave optional feedback. Officers, too, can report back on their experience. Payments are automatically processed based on the agreed rate and timing, with direct deposit initiated within a standard payout window.
